Game Recap

Thirty-four seconds was all it took for Derby to put a stamp on tonight’s match with Wichita South. Three minutes to do it a second time. The Panthers ignored the cold temps and wind and just came to play. This was a solid performance from Derby as they were firing on all cylinders. Twenty-three of their twenty-six shots were on goal tonight showing how dangerous the boys were. They even recorded shots off of corner kicks, something they have not been good at this season. The biggest reason for the lack of goals in the first half seemed to stem from playing too direct in the attacking third. The Panthers went back to playing short passes in the second half with more consistent runs from the attackers which opened the field allowing the Derby attack to take complete control. The back line was also solid as they limited South from possessing the ball in their defensive third and held them to zero shots.
With only four games remaining after tonight, Derby will take their 10-2 record to Goddard on Thursday.
