Derby Panthers weathered a push by Maize South in the fifth inning where the Panthers coughed up three runs, but still won 13-3 on Tuesday. Alex Epp and Jack Wagner all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Derby scored six runs in the third inning. Brayden Paxton, Alex McGill, Brett Westerman, Coleson Syring, Hunter Igo, and Alex Jacobs all drove in runs in the frame.
Noah Johnson earned the win for the Panthers. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and three runs. Weston Murrow threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Hayden Bontrager took the loss for Maize South. He surrendered eight runs on six hits over two and a third innings, striking out four.
Derby totaled 15 hits in the game. McGill, Westerman, Igo, and Syring all managed multiple hits for Derby Panthers Varsity. Westerman and McGill each managed three hits to lead the Panthers.
