Derby grabbed an early lead on its way to a 12-2 victory over Salina Central on Tuesday. Derby scored on a single by Brett Westerman, a double by Brayden Paxton, and a double by Alex McGill in the first inning.
After Salina Central scored one run in the top of the third, Derby answered with one of their own. Salina Central scored when Kickhaefer drew a walk, scoring one run. Derby then answered when Grant Adler’s sac fly scored one run for the Panthers.
Adler got the win for Derby. He allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four.
Kavenach took the loss for Salina Central. He allowed eight hits and five runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
