Derby lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat to Bishop Carroll on Saturday. The game was tied at one with Bishop Carroll batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run for Bishop Carroll.
Derby lost despite out-hitting Bishop Carroll five to four. Derby got on the board in the first inning. Reid Liston singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Bishop Carroll tied things up at one. Bishop Carroll scored one run when Unrein singled. Faber earned the victory on the hill for Bishop Carroll. The hurler allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Grant Ash took the loss for Derby. The righthander went six innings, allowing five runs on four hits, striking out four and walking zero.
Luke Stewart, Mercer Thatcher, Liston, Kade Snodgrass, and Luke Westerman each collected one hit to lead Derby.
