Ten passes in a row that were all done with one touch. That is the Panther team that is hard to stop. A team that was in the driver’s seat the entire first half. Attack after attack thrown at Northwest, but the back of the net eluded them entirely. The only goal of the first half was an own goal on the Panthers on an unfortunate turn of events on a failed clearance. The only mistake from the defense tonight. A crew that allowed no shots on goal in the second half and only one the entire match.
Derby evened the game fairly early in the second on an overlapping run, then cross, from Caden Miller. He would find Saul Munoz for the equalizer and turn all the momentum back to the Panthers. The pressure from Derby would also cause an own goal just minutes later giving the Panthers their first lead of the match. The Panthers found it much easier to get in behind the Northwest back line and found they were doing it in a much faster manner. Derby added another goal later on a beautiful build up that would seal the fate of the game.
The celebration will be short lived though as the Panthers will take the field on Monday against Trinity when they begin the Titan Classic. Kickoff for that match is slated at 1:00.
