Saben Seager was brilliant on the pitcher’s mound on Friday, as Seager threw a no-hitter to lead Derby past Maize South 6-1.
Derby didn’t take the lead until later in the game. Luke Westerman was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
Derby got things started in the second inning when Coleson Syring’s sac fly scored one run for Derby. In the bottom of the second inning, Maize South tied things up at one when Kaden McBratney reached on a dropped third strike.
Seager pitched Derby to victory. The righty allowed zero hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 16.
Aaron Geisler took the loss for Maize South. The bulldog lasted four and a third innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four and walking zero.
Derby had nine hits in the game. Reid Liston, Mercer Thatcher, and Kade Snodgrass all collected multiple hits for Derby. Liston led the Panthers with three hits in four at bats.
