Spring soccer. Not today. The temperature was around 50 degrees at kick but the winds were between 25-30 mph. The Panthers went against that wind in the first half and had some trouble figuring out how to get out of their own end. Derby was able to possess the ball but getting forward was definitely an issue. Even with all the pressure Eisenhower was able to apply, Derby only gave up two shots. The Panthers were able to counter and be dangerous once they figured out the wind. Alyssa Rowland was the first to get on the board when she was able to sneak one under the bar in the 18’. That goal helped Derby spread out the game and keep on the gas. Giselle Vielmas scored on the 25’ to give Derby the 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Going with the wind allowed Derby to keep a high line and press the entire half. Eisenhower never possessed the ball going forward. The Panthers twelve shots on goal in the second yielded five goals with a pair from Jaici Stanley in her first significant minutes back from
an injury. Samantha Curtis, Adrianna Needham and Faith Abou-Fassial also added goals for the Panthers.
Derby will look to add another win when they travel to Arkansas City on Thursday.
