Derby took on the fist year program of the Wichita Defenders this evening in the Defender’s last match of the season. The match tonight was completely in Derby’s hands as the Defenders only managed two shots on goal and spent almost all of the game defending the relentless attack of the Panthers who were finding it easy to get the ball forward. While there were some defensive shape issues for the Panthers, the match was very well played by Derby, controlling the middle of the field and moving the ball from level to level with urgency, possessing with a purpose.
The ten goals the Panthers put up tonight were scored by six different players, and six were assisted, the last coming with ten minutes left in the contest evoking the mercy rule.
The goals tonight were scored by Rigo Salazar (3), Logan Zinn (2), Adan Vaquera, Quincy Masumbu, Riley Beasley, and Erik Huter (2). The assists came from the play of Riley Beasley, Brent Nelson, Andrew Miller, Tyler Ring, Adan Vaquera, and Rigo Salazar.
