Derby High School vs Haysville-Campus High School

Meeting number two between Campus and Derby this season. The first was a 1-0 Panther victory in the Northwest Tournament, and tonight’s was also a 1-0 win for the Panthers. Derby had total control of this match in every statistic that can be tracked, but the final third was yet again a little troublesome. Derby’s defensive pressure, especially through the middle is how the Panthers kept control of the game, as they were able to facilitate their attack and open the game from the midfield.
The Panthers had a new level of energy this evening and it grew as the game developed, forcing Campus to have to continue playing defense. You can only defend for so long and a foul fighting to stop a breakaway dropped Keagan Kawahara in the box in the 42’. He also took the PK and that shot would be the deciding goal of the match.
Derby (7-2-1, 2-0) will head to Salina South to continue league play on Tuesday.
