Derby Panthers put up eight runs in the second on its way to an 11-1 victory over Arkansas City on Thursday. Derby’s offense in the inning was led by Tanner Knox, Kade Snodgrass, Reid Liston, and Luke Westerman, who all drove in runs.
Arkansas City got things moving in the first inning. Jarrett Brooks singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Derby tied things up at one when Luke Stewart singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Derby pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Knox singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs, Snodgrass tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, an error scored one run for Derby , and Seth Zimmerman induced Westerman to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Carson Olmstead led the Derby to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The righthander lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three. Jace Jenkins threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Lucas Barnes took the loss for Arkansas City. The hurler lasted one and one-third innings, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out two.
Derby scattered six hits in the game. Snodgrass and Stewart each had multiple hits for Derby. Stewart and Snodgrass each collected two hits to lead Derby.
