Five goals in this match was not expected, let alone all five being scored in the first half. The first one put away in the 9’ by Heights only to be answered in the 13’ on a header by Connor Robinette from the Omar Vielmas corner. Add another Heights goal in the 22’ only for the other center back, Matt Young, to put home a bouncer in the box in the 26’. The deciding goal would unfortunately be an own goal while trying to clear a ball out of the penalty area.
The Panthers started the match having trouble getting out of their defensive third, but taking every opportunity of the chances they would get early. But a bigger issue was that the final ball would once again be their weak point, only getting four real shots at goal. Those chances that were there in the first half would just not fall their way in the second. Derby would get in and had a chance at equalizing late, but to no avail as Heights was able to clean up those late chances and preserve the win, ending the Panther’s season.
Derby (13-3-2, 5-0-1) still had a great run this season, winning their first league title in six years and finishing the season by hosting a regional.
